Are you deceding on surgery?

The Linx anti-reflux device was approved in 2012. I remember the year very well as a family friend had it implanted then.

At first the insurance approved the claim, it paid the hospital, then took it (money) back stating it was investigative. An appeal was made by the hospital etc etc. I think they paid the procedure but not the device itself which cost $5,000. Suggest you get a copy of written approval before proceeding-- if cost is important.

My dear friend has had ongoing type of problems with reflux, LPR, water brashing, still sleeps with head of bed elevated, no coffee, oranges, tomatoes, spicy etc. Still uses aloe, chalky stuff, tums etc. And absolutely refuses to take PPI's. (Almost three years post implant now). Has seen doctors about continuing issues and agonizing over its removal and Nissen. Hard to find a doc that will do both at one procedure. One said go see original doc (done) that. Another said take it out and then wait 6 months and do ALL the re tests then come back. Another said give it another 18 months. Patient friend doesn't want to experience severe reflux during the wait and retest period.

BTW. He doesn't drink, smoke, nothing ever fried--potatoes, chips,no wheat, no corn or soy. Nothing carbonated anything.

This is not to discourage Linx people as it is helpful to others. They just do not show up on the forum if they are without issues and have gone on with their lives. I'm praying for my friend who is now 108 lbs at 5'8".
