Hello, everyone!
I have chronically suffered with reflux (GERD and LPR) and very mild IBS over the last 6 years. I have quit going to doctors over the last two years because none of them would take the symptoms totally seriously and recurrently said everything was psychologically related. Stress indeed makes things worse (I've always known that), but even when I'm entirely relaxed at home I have some GERD/LPR crisis. In fact, I believe that the GERD/LPR crisis - which are much more common right after relaxing weekends then during stressful weeks - are caused by the fact that I sleep more (usually 8 hours vs 6 hours of regular days), which results at lying down longer and, consequently, having the esophagus/throat more exposed to refluxate. As a result, some mild heartburn appears and throat mucus drastically increases.
Over the last three years, I have taken half dosage of PPIs (20mg of Pantoprazole per day, in the morning, 15 minutes before breakfast) and full dosage of prokinetics (domperidone 15 minutes before every meal) and things are reasonably under control. I still have issues a couple a days a week with GERD/LPR, but it's definitely weaker than before.
During the last year, the only thing I've noticed is that I have produced more gurgling sounds in my throat. They tend to be louder in days in which my GERD/LPR is stronger (throat mucus in increased in these days) and between 5-30 minutes after meals.
There goes a link with around 3 minutes of gurgling sounds I have recorded during 2 or 3 days of observation. I would appreciate a lot if you could listen to them and comment if you have something similar. I'm afraid those sounds may be caused by some stenosis (I don't have dysphagia and this is one of things that scares me the most about
GERD/LPR).
