Hi asiangal555,
Are you elevating your bed at night when you go to sleep? Secondly, are you avoiding the most common trigger foods and beverages such as fatty foods, spicy foods, dairy such as milk, alcohol and caffeine?
I have found the best defense against GERD symptoms starts with what you eat, what you drink, and how you sleep at night.
Prevacid never worked for me. In fact, my body rejected it and it caused horrible stomach pain. Nexium worked for me but it made me so dizzy and gave me headaches that I had to stop taking it. I finally went to a gastroenterologist a few years ago and he put me on Dexilant. It was a rough-going for a couple of days but once my body got used to the drug, it tolerated it pretty well and it helped with my symptoms.
I am also not a fan of using a wedge pillow because in some cases it can actually put more pressure on your stomach or esophagus. For me, elevating my entire bed 5 to 7 inches was far more effective.
Good luck to you.
