Hi everyone,

 I'm not really sure what my problem is but my symptoms are,nausea terrilbe,weak,feels like a lump in my throat for the past week,burp all the time even after water,stomach makes some really strange noisesLOAD,gurgatate(sp)after eating and gas through out the day and a burning sensation at times.Feel like I've lost a few pounds noticeable to me.

 Maybe its the medication I'm on Prednisone,Nortriptylin,Xanax,Methotrexate,Folic Acid,Placquenil,Naproxen couple more can't remember right now.Was also Dx's with Lupus, RA and Raynaunds.

 Hope someone can answer my question because I am not formaliar with acid/gerd problems.One more question my brother had Esphogeal Cancer is this hereditary?

Mary,
Of course you will need to continue to work with your primary care physician and pharmacist to keep an eye on the mixture of meds your on, but I would definately recommend a controlled carb approach to treating the GERD.

So do you think the GERD is from the different meds I'm on or do you think it could be something else?

Is Gerd or Esphogeal problems hereditary?

Hi Mary, my brother died of esophagal cancer 8 years ago. I suffer from Gerd and I do worry about the possibility of contracting cancer. I only know that any cancer can be hereditary. All we can do is try to do the right things. I am following Doctor Norms low carb diet and it is doing me good. I hope you feel better soon. It does sound like you are taking alot of meds. Vanessa thanks for responding.Can you tell me about your diet.What to avoid and so on.Do you know if any of these meds. can cause indigestion problems nausea?Because I feel like its sitting in my throat all day.The only new med. I have is Xanax.I've only been on this one 2weeks,but boy do I sleep like a BABY.


I just lost my brother in August he was only 53 years old I still can't believe he's gone just breaks my heart.He was Dx's in December2004 finished ratiation and chemo and 10 days later died.Miss him so much.


But anyways would love any info.

Hello Mary, nice to hear from you. I don`t know much about all your medication. Perhaps you could talk to your doctor. Maybe one med is not agreeing with the other.
If you read some of the other posts you will get a lot of information about the low carb diet. It is really working for me. Had no PPI`s for a week. You should try it.
I am sorry to hear about your brother. Life is so cruel.
My brother was just 33 years old when he got the cancer. We were very close and I still miss him after 8 years. His disease was in the advanced stages when he was diagnosed so there was no treatment left to offer. He lived for 5 months after Dx.
I am sorry I can`t help you more with your questions about meds but I think you need an expert on this one.

Wow, you have a lot to deal with ... I'm sorry that this is just one more thing to add to your life.

Exactly how much weight have you lost? What stregnth of Prednisone are you currently taking (or is a Methylprednisolone divi-pak -- the reducing pack/per day).

CKG thanks for responding.I feel stupid but I don't know what PPI is.I take Methotrexate 2.5 mgsx5 tablets a day once a week.I've been on Prednisone since2001 started at 20 mgs. and now can't get past 4mgs.daily.I thought being on Methotrexate for months now that would replace the Prednisone.Do you think all the meds. I'm on are to strong for my system?I just feel sick to my stomach all day.Even if I drink water I feel like I could run to the bathroom,just sits in my throat.Sometimes when I do burp it comes up a little. The other meds are:
Naproxen 500mg
Placquenil 400mg
Folic Acid 1mg
Nortriptylin 25mg
Xanax .5mg
Prednisone 4mg
Methotrexate 2.5mg x 5once a day

Being on Prednisone for 4 years can that cause damage to my bones even on a low dose?I noticed MD after your name are you a medical DR.?I hope you have some info.

I think I've only lost 10lbs. in 2 weeks.

I'm sorry you have so much to deal with right now, and I hope you start to feel better soon.

I just wanted to let you know that my experience with Naproxen lead me to the ER a short time ago. I experienced extreme abdominal distress w/nausea. My PCP informed me that this med should have never been prescribed or taken with GERD, because it's known to cause GI distress.
