This is a repeat post, but I posted it in a really old thread, so I thought I would start a new one.
I am new here. I signed up because of my anxiety and my GERD.
I am 5'6 female, 115lbs and my job is a fitness instructor -- yet I feel like I am falling apart.
My GERD started about 7 months ago when I was having trouble swallowing; which eventually lead to a choking incident which prompted an ER visit. This episode caused a lot of anxiety. Three months of ER visits, tests -- blood work, Xrays, endoscopy and barium swallow - they decided I had GERD.
Once I knew this, I got it under control with Zantac and a decent diet.
Two or three weeks ago, things changed. As I started to experiment more with food (because I was tired of only functioning on yogurt and fruit and baby food); I started getting chest pains, pains down my arm; I couldn't sleep and I had exessive belching. I increased my Zantac which didn't work and I ended up going to the ER three times thinking it was my heart, the walk in clinic once and my family doctor, all in the span of those few weeks. All tests on the heart came out fine.
They changed my medication recently to Pantaloc and I hate it. I still can't sleep, my belching got worse and I was struggling with my breathe. And all I am doing is worrying about my body.
I skipped any medication for 1 night and while I slept, I am paying for it today -- I've never experienced such pain in my upper back -- I'm freaking out thinking it's my heart again but I am belching and tasting so much acid, I am wondering now if my esophagus is spasming. I can't keep going back to the hospital. They've pretty much labeled me crazy...but I am really worried. Is this common??
I took a zantac; it has calmed things a bit, but my upper back is still in pain and all I can do is worry. Is upper back pain a normal thing to feel with GERD?
Any and all reassurance is welcomed. Thank you for reading.
