Need info on GERD

My doctor thinks I may have GERD, but I don't have heartburn! I've never heard of this. I sound hoarse though, and usually feel like there's a lump in my throat. I figured it was sinus drainage or a thyroid problem. (I'm waiting to see an endocrinologist.) He also said it can take a month before the antacids begin to work?!

Your doc may be right. I was prescribed reducing meds once for a chronic cough. It did stop my cough. In my case, I also suffered for many years with heartburn, but at the time, did not see the connection. I now believe in a controlled carbohydrate approach to cure my symptoms which means I don't need the medications.
