Hey all.

I've been scouring these boards for a few weeks now and have really appreciated all the detailed journals.

Tomorrow I have a consult with a surgeon at Kaiser here in the city.

My endoscopy is done (last was the 3rd) - Hernia, very relaxed LES.
My 24hr manometry is complete - 52.1 DeMeester score
I have not done a barium swallow but perhaps that will be discussed tomorrow.

I am hoping for NF soon, and will be happy to share the experience when/if that is made available.

Question for the audience; Does anyone have experience with NF surgery at Kaiser here in the Bay Area? I would love to here from you if so. Also, if you have a friend or loved one who has been through NF at Kaiser here, I would love to know who performed the surgery, and their impressions of the team.

Hello Pacificsky!

I had my Nissen done at Kaiser Santa Clara with thoracic surgeon Dr Alex Moskovitz. Excellent surgeon with impeccable bedside manner. 2 years later and I feel fantastic. I'm happy to answer any questions you have!

I'm glad you had a positive experience with Kaiser.

My consult today is with the assistant chief of surgery for Kaiser SF, though I'm not certain that she would be my surgeon. I will ask her many questions and be back here later to update.

Consultation with surgeon done.

She indicated that she only performs 6-10 Nissens a year now, due to "it falling out of favor" in the last 10 years due to the effectiveness of PPI'S. That said, base on my personal case she said I would likely be one of the few good candidates for it.

We scheduled the barium test for next month, and will meet again after to decide on next steps.

Nissan "loose wrap" and hernia repair scheduled for the end of the month here at Kaiser SF. Very ready and excited to get this done.
I'll return the favor with my experience when done!
