Researching a surgeon in the UK

I went to see the surgeon today and he is putting me forward for a barium swallow and said there is no point doing the PH monitoring as I clearly have volume reflux and it doesn't matter if it is acid or not.

Anyway, he gave me a lot of confidence but I was wondering if anyone else in the UK researched their surgeon before they had their NF done? How do I go about doing that?

Hi Jennie.
Be nice to chat as I also live in UK. My son has finally been diagnosed with a weak LES and requires a nissen fundoplication 360. He was due to have his op on 28th of this month but we have heard this afternoon that it is to be done on Friday of this week. We are off to the hospital tomorrow for a pre op check. We live in Cheshire and the hospital he is under is the Countess of Chester. The surgeon is a Mr David Monk. He is the senior consultant in his field and well respected. The op will hopefully be done by keyhole unless any problems arise (fingers crossed)
He has had various tests Barium swallow and also PH test and a Manometry. The latter two tests were done at the Salford Royal.All proved conclusive. He has been so poorly this past 12 months so hopefully this procedure will give him some relief.
