I have a problem that drives my wife mad more than me.
I had a funduplication 4 years ago (by scope) then it failed as the wrap was too slack, i then had an open funduplication, about 18 months ago.
I have had an irritating, can't call it cough but i have to clear my throat, there is no mucus and it feels dry.
I went to the doctor about a year ago and he sent me for tests which included a 24 hour test that measured the acid, very unpleasant as the tube obviously had to stay in place.
The results were all normal and the gastro surgeon said there was nothing wrong with the wrap.
Then the doctor suggested it may be nasal drip, i was given drops but it made no difference.
Its not just at night while lying down is day and night.
Just by chance i am going for spinal surgery in 3 weeks and had a pre assessment and the nurse saw my scar and was asking about the operation, i mentioned about the silly irritation and she said she had heard of it before and it was caused by spasms either of the side of the wrap, she couldn't tell me about any treatment as that was not her area.
Has anyone any idea what the cure could be or at least what i could take to reduce the problem, id rather try over the counter medication if possible as my doctor is not really clued up.
I did say i took ranitidine and lansoprazole together and she thought it was unusual to take both, am not sure there doing me any good anyway, been taking them for 5 years now.
