Throat and Neck Pain after EGD. Please help!

Hi everyone-

I posted here yesterday, because I was having back pain after an upper endoscopy that was performed Monday morning. I still can't eat, because it makes the left-sided back pain worse, as well as makes my chest feel tight when swallowing. However, my throat feels more sore today than it did on Monday or through Tuesday evening. My neck feels stiff and I think my esophagus is really irritated, because it feels painful from the back of my throat down my neck. I know it's a rare complication, but I'm nervous about it being a perforation. I really want to know if anyone has experienced these symptoms after EGD. It has been up 42 hours since I had the EGD. No fever, but still worried.

I was diagnosed with GERD and eosinophilic esophagitis in 2009, so he took biopsies to see if I still have them (but I'm sure I do). There were rings and "furrowing" in my esophagus. I don't remember my last EGD causing this much throat and esophageal pain. After the procedure, he said everything went fine. I still have to wait 2.5 hours to get in touch with my GI office :(

Did thy take biopsies this time? When I had biopsies taken it hurt for a couple of week after as they basically rip a chunk of your esophagus out

Yes, they did take biopsies. Maybe that's why it's hurting more than I thought it would. My back isn't hurting so much anymore, but my throat is still sore. It just feels like I have laryngitis or a throat infection, but I would think if I had had a perforation, I would know by now!
