Hi. I have ad issues since 2009 that have progressively gotten worse. I found out I had a small HH in 2011 when my kidney doctor found my it on a CT scan he ordered. Over the years the pain in my arm, gas, bloating, back pain, vomiting ect after eating has gotten worse. I ended up in ER last Sunday in severe pain that had lasted a week. Another CT scan showed my entire stomach, small intestine, part of my large intrstine and spleen are all in my left side of my chest pressing my heart and lungs. I was released with a surgeon referral and oxycodone rx. I got into consult with the surgeon on Weds. He happened to be the same one who preformed my gallbladder surgery in 2009. He showed me the scans from then in which it was present but small (yet I wasn't even told then I had it) & also the 2011 one from my kidney doctor where it was still samll and hadn't changed to the one last weekend from the ER...big difference! He said I have no choice at this point then to have the surgery and ASAP. I chose Feb. 8th so I have time to make arrangements for work and can watch a few more games of my HS senior daughters basketball season. I will be having the open surgery due to it being so large and so many organs being involved. Frankly I am scared.

How are you doing? I hope well. I think considering what you have said that you made the right decision. Hopefully you're feeling much better!

I hope "everything stays put" in your abdomen for now and you get to see the rest of your daughter's baseball games.
I just had a full NP but by scope. I was really nervous also.
I hope your surgery goes well.

Positive thoughts your way.

Update:
I am now 4 weeks post op and doing good! I was so scared to have this done but I am glad I did. I spent a week in the hospital. I do not remember a lot about the first night.2nd day I was having issues breathing. It hurt the worst. From what my Morphine brain at the time understood... After a CT they determined my lung kept filing up with fluid & trying to collapse. This was from a small leak where the surgeon had to separate my stomach as it had fused itself to my lung. The put in a chest tube and gave me lasix and hooked me up to a machine to pump it all out for 3 days. That was the worst part of the recovery... and not the norm. Clear Liquid diet 2 days and 3rd day I was able to add oatmeal and cream of wheat and yogurt. Pillows were my best friends. I took a body pillow and my favorite pillow with me to the hospital. The body pillow was great to keep under my knees in the hospital bed. I left with 35 staples that were removed on the 17th and steri strips for another 7 days. Weeks 2 and 3 at home I took it easy and was able to stop taking the pain meds pretty quickly by end of 2nd. Now start of week 4 I still get tired if I try and get out a lot or spend a long time up on my feet and sitting straight up can be uncomfortable still. I am hoping my job will let me come back next week and allow me to keep my sub on to help. I am a elementary school cafeteria manager. I feel like I can do the daily paperwork/inventory and ordering ect but not so much the cooking, serving and cleaning yet and I don't want to leave my other girls shorthanded and having to do double. Waiting to hear back if they will pay us both or if my coming back has to be all or nothing! As far as eating I tried a hamburger patty last night. It wasn't the best ideal even though I chewed and chewed. I think I will wait. It caused a bit of pain. Though nothing like what I was having before the surgery when I ate. I have not tried breads yet.But I eat a lot of soft veggies, avocados, yogurt, soups, small pastas, ect. My surgeon gave me absolutely no guidance except wait until 4 weeks for meats. Other than that just follow my instincts on everything and good luck. Ha. Reading here and a group on facebook helped tremendously to know what is normal and what to expect! Thank you!
