Hi all,
I'm new to having GERD/LPR. Before starting birth control, I had the occasional heartburn after eating spicy foods, etc. I maybe had heartburn 1-2 times a year at that! I decided to take birth control in July (so, about seven months ago now) to see if it would help with acne. about three months into taking the pill (in October), I started to have chest pains and more heartburn more often, which was unusual for me. I quit after the three months (in October) and my heartburn completely exploded to the point to where I had to take Prilosec for two weeks just to get it to stop.
Three/four months after quitting the pill I'm doing much better, however, I'm still dealing with what I think are symptoms of LPR.
Has anyone out there experienced more heartburn with the pill? Did it go away after you quit? How long did it take for it to completely go away and for things to do back to normal?
I'm really worried that birth control caused permanent damage and that I'll have heartburn/LPR problems for the rest of my life (I'm only 23). Is it even possible for birth control to cause permanent heartburn problems even after quitting? Help!
