Hey everyone,
I had my first EGD today. GI doctor is telling me that there's not much inflammation in my esophagus and that stomach and duodenum looks normal. The only 2 issues that he sees from the scope are - small hiatal hernia and irregular z-line. Biopsies are taken and now waiting for results.
When I asked him if anything looked abnormal, he reassured me that things are fine. He said that if I start feeling better, I can even wean down on my PPIs.
I was confused about the irregular z-line so I looked it up and almost everywhere I looked, it says that it's connected to Barrett's esophagus??
Now I'm scared because he did take biopsies. Has anyone here been shown irregular z-line on their EGD but no signs or Barrett's esophagus, or are they really connected? I'm surprised that he never even mentioned Barrett's after the procedure follow-up. Just waiting on the results of the biopsies now...
Really appreciate all your feedback.
