Gastritis, Carafate, and Protonix Need Help

Well, came here for answers or opinions. I have a long history of GERD, Gastritis, Gastroparesis after my gallbladder came out in 2010, ulcers, and right now my stomach severely burns and my neck hurts. I got passed the fear stages of my neck and stomach hurting a long time ago. Was in the hospital for 2 months back in 2012.

My question is I been on protonix since 2010. And carafate on and off the pill form. The liquid verison burned my stomach with its preservatives. Since I restarted taking carafate now it hurts my stomach even doing a slurry with 10-15ccs of water feels like it just sits in my stomach. Can the protonix be causing low stomach acid enough where the carafate does not work right? Does the stomach need to have an acidic content for the carafate to work right? I read it does, but need some opinions where to go. Carafate has always been my go to med but being on protonix that long making the carafate not effective due to low acid for the medicine to bind? Please help on this

Reason I posted I can't get it under control. I was thinking the Protonix is lowing my stomach acid too much to the point the Carafate does not bind right. Can that happen?

I don't have an answer for you, but Carafate didn't work for me - whether I was on a PPI, or not.

Ya carafate don't work for certain people for these factors...

1. Your allergic to aluminium
2. You have esophagus irritation and your entire stomach is inflamed and taking the sold pill only coats the bottom of the stomach leaving the top and esophagus exposed.

Maybe my stomach acid is too low that the carafate is not binding right. But, could be I have not been during the slurry right. Tried a little less water 10CC which is the amount it covers the pill. It broke down slightly and tried to drink it that way but the entire pill stuck to the medicine cup. I try stirring it but then the medicine did not work as well.

Anyway know the proper way to taking a carafate slurry and how much water in a medicine cup? Or can low stomach acid make the medicine not work right?

Or the other question is, do you dissolve the carafate completely by stirring it with a small amount of water? Since it does not completely dissolve when you add water to it in a medicine up? 10CC of water and it turns into a sticky ball without stirring it...

Have you tried the liquid carafate? A lot of people have better results than with the pill form.

Had issues with the liquid due to the preservatives in it. Caused my gastritis to burn worse. I did better with the pill.

How much protonix are you on? Do you take pepcid for breakthrough gerd? I take PPI's and the pill form of carafate does help when I have gastritis flare ups but I would imagine its probably different with each person.
