Weight loss with nissen fundo

I have had LPR for 2years with limited improvement even after following strict low acid diet and other changes. In the beginning I had all the main tests: barium swallow, ph testing, manometry, camera in nose and down throat. All proving a LPR diagnosis. I am in the process of doing the testing again with thoughts of possible surgery. My main concern Is the weight loss. Everyone I have read about on these forums stated losing lots of weight. That is something I could not afford to do as I am very thin now. I have lost about 10 lbs fighting this LPR condition. Has anyone had the surgery and not lost major weight. I am in my early 70's and in excellent physical shape except for this condition that is wearing me down. I also live alone. Would I be able to manage the recovery on my own with limited assistance?

Everyone is different, and there is no way to know if and how much weight you will lose. That's something to think about before scheduling surgery. I would also read some of the information on this forum from people who have had NF surgery for LPR and their issues post-surgery as they can be different from people who suffered from GERD. I would also exhaust all other avenues as this surgery is major and should be a last resort option. Also, the recovery can be long and difficult and proves more so as we get older. Do your research and most importantly find a surgeon that has a lot of experience with this particular type of surgery and not just someone who can perform the surgery.
