Hi, so my symptoms started at a music festival where i suddenly felt like i had something stuck at the bottom of my throat/ top of oesophagus. I had not long before had nachos, a beer, and took an iron tablet. I was asking people to slap my back as I thought I had a piece of food stuck. I made myself sick a few times, but nothing helped. A few hours later the feeling got worse/ more uncomfortable and I had severe abdominal pains to the point I was rolling about the floor screaming, and if I took a tiny sip of water this made the pain 10x worse. I left the festival early and went to A&E where they told me it was GERD, and told me to buy a bottle of gaviscon. This did not help, so I went back to my GP who prescribed me omeprazole. The 'lump' feeling remained for a few days, and sort of felt like tonsillitis going down my oesophagus. After a few days the feeling went away all together. about a week or so later I was on a speed boat and I felt fine during this. However when I got off, the feeling came back, although it was not as painful as the first time. This again lasted a few days, made me feel sick constantly, made me feel full, bloated and have no appetite. When I did eat, I got full very quickly (leaving the majority of my meal) and the food would keep coming back up/ felt like it was stuck in my oesophagus.
When i returned I visited my GP again who upped my dose of omeprazole and booked me in for an endoscopy. I had the endoscopy today and it came back normal. Does anyone know what could be causing this if the endoscopy hasn't flagged anything up? The symptoms I'm still having are: sour taste in the mouth constantly, feeling sick constantly, feeling full and very bloated after very little food, feeling the need to burp a lot after eating, although if I do then food comes up .I also cough up some mucus. I also suffer from anxiety most of the time, which I have not seen my doctor about. Is there a chance this could be related to the GERD symptoms, or make them worse? I doubt it could account for all the symptoms i'm having but I'm lost with what it could be if the endoscopy was normal.
(I should also note that when I have alcohol, particularly spirits, I get unusually sick the next day, even if it is only a few vodkas. For this reason I have barely drank in the past year. And when I was at the music festival I tried to only drink cans of beer/cider to avoid the sickness I get with spirits. I have also never had any previous experiences of heartburn before, although a lot of my family do and are on omeprazole. I am 19 years old)
