23 y/o male. I have a condition called eosinophilic esophagitis that I was diagnosed with when I was 16. I should have sought treatment long ago, but the last two times I had endoscopies done, they put me under and I was very anxious. The first time they used propofol, and they said my body was fighting it after I knocked out so they had to use even more. I ended up being sick at home the next few days.
The next time, they used nitrous? An inhalant, because of how I reacted to the propofol. It's worth noting that I have issues with anxiety and I didn't have anything to calm me down beforehand for either of these procedures.
Anyway, that was a while back. I'm scheduled to have an upper endoscopy done tomorrow but this time with conscious sedation. I keep worrying about it. The past year or so I have been getting a lot of PACs/extra heartbeats & palpitations, and my cardiologist rhythm specialist is out of town at the moment. His RN said it should be ok to proceed with the procedure, but I still can't help but feel very nervous. They are going to use versed and fentanyl, and have the procedure booked under MAC anesthesia with propofol incase I don't do well with the conscious sedation.
Very nervous. Any advice or recommendations?
