Hello there
I'm from Malaysia and I'm 29 years old male. From as far as I can remember I have been suffering from LPR since I was 18 years old. Initially my symptoms were tonsillitis and I was always treated for it (course of amoxicillin) for about 3 years till we decided to get it removed. While my tonsils were inflamed I usually get secondaries in my sinuses too. Most of the time landing up with a flu like symptoms (running nose, sore throat).
After removing my tonsils I continued getting bad sore throats with high fever. I've been going to ENT surgeons and they keep suspecting post nasal drip because I always have running nose when I do get sore throats. So to improve my post nasal drips I did a septoplasty to improve the air flow in my nose. While this improved my nose greatly it did not help my throat.
After the septoplasty the doctors suspected GERD and I did a gastroscope and it confirmed that I had chronic gastritis and scarring of the sphincter valve. There was also evidence of bile juice in my stomach. They also took a biopsy from my stomach and it was tested negative for h pylori. I was put on nexium for about 3 months and while it did control the sore throat symptoms but I usually wake up in the morning with a slight sore throat which will go away after breakfast.
Concurrent to the GERD I have also been suffering from what doctors call IBS (I feel because they don't know what else to call it) where I generally feel hungry very fast and I suffer from bouts of indigestion and bloating as well as constipation.
I also have tinnitus, generally feeling fatigued, depression (self diagnosis), bad memory, difficulty recalling words, and a lack of drive or excitement in my life.
This year I took it upon myself to do a lot of research to find out what's going on with me and my symptoms look like gluten intolerance. I did a transglutaminase iga blood test (to check if I'm gluten intolerant) and on a scale of 0-100 (0 being not gluten intolerant) my score was 2. I also did a MRI of my abdomen and everything came up ok. I am in the process of testing if I'm suffering from SIBO (small intestines bacterial overgrowth) as my symptom points me towards a small intestines infection.
Malaysia has no SIBO test facility so I have to go down to Singapore to be tested. I have to be off all PPIs and antibiotics at least 2 weeks before the test and together with my work schedule I have only done 1 breath glucose test so far which came back negative. The SIBO test consist of 4 breath test to test for glucose, lactose, fructose and maltose.
I do a lot of rock climbing and go to the gym at least twice a week and enjoy trail running a lot too.
All I want is to be 16 again when I did not have any of these issues. Do you have any ideas for me?
