Hi everyone, my roommate has me very worried. He started about
2 weeks ago after a steak dinner and some beer and had his first night where he was woken up by pain and indigestion, burping, etc. about
a week went by and then it happened again. And now it is about
every other night. The pain, indigestion, etc is always at night never during the day even after a big meal. Sometimes it's from 11-2, sometimes from 12-4, sometimes from 2-5. He is woken up by the pain, but describes it as about
a 6/10 at worst or a dull "just there" pain. It does radiate to his back a bit. He hasn't had any change in bowel movements as far as I know. He has a history of acid reflux but nothing ever this bad. He had been taking Nexium, which really seemed to help, but stopped taking it the last month or so, and started back taking it 2 days ago, but he still had another episode last night. Do you think this is gall bladder? Or ulcer? Or GERD? Or even Gastritis? I'm just tired of reading all of the stuff about
how terrible gall bladders can act, etc, and how gall bladders can be removed, but oops it was GERD/an ulcer the whole time, and it seems like everything has the same symptoms. And, there no real trend as far as food eaten or anything. He's really miserable because he's losing a lot of sleep and I want to be able to help, but this is all I know to do! Is there any way to specifically tell? Or just need an ultrasound, etc.
