360 fundoplication reversed to 180 wrap

Hi all
Need some help
Ive had a 360 fundoplication taken down to a partial
180 wrap last week and now im experiencing clearing and burning of my throat
As anyone had a full wrap taken down to partial and is this part of healing or would you think it's just not working

Any ideas guys

What's the reasoning behind this 2nd surgery? Why would a partial be better than a NF full wrap to cure reflux? I too had all symptoms return after a matter of only a few weeks after full NF. Burning, cough, throat clearing, etc. - all chronic & impossible to control with PPIs, anything.

My full Nissen did not cure me, it barely made an impact & is now worthless. After 18 months & a repeat of all previous reflux tests I've got proof my problem is reflux, again, DeMeester 49 both times. Turns out my NF was loose. May as well have been non-existant for the good it did.

I a going to have a valvuloplasty instead of a Nissen redo. Its purpose is to rebuild the stomach valve that was in need of repair before my NF. Makes sense to me.

How many Nissens does it take to cure severe reflux?

I had developed gastroparesis and blood sugar problems so the surgeon thought it was to tight round the nerves. I can't be having a 3rd. Hope this is temporary

Dilation didn't work for you?

I have no info but you can google it, that's how I found out about it.

I thought dilation was tried before a redo for a NF wrap that's too tight. Sometimes even 2 times or more. So surgeons can err on the side of the wrap being too tight. Its better than a wrap that's loose.

I'd insist on having tests for reflux when you're up to it, after you feel healed & know how your body is responding at that time, 3 months or more??? Up to you & how you feel then.

When I knew my wrap was no good I listened to the nay sayers who said it was impossible. I put up with another year of reflux torture & went on a wild chase after all other possible diagnosis. Wish I'd just insisted I had reflux & had a Bravo test. During that time I also developed an ulcer.

I can't see another wrap solving my problem. If the 1st one didn't work, why would another? Turns out my wrap is loose but I'm not interested in another wrap if there's a better surgery for me, the stomach valvuloplasty.

Google it at Florida Hospitals in Orlando, that's where I'm going. I don't live there so this adventure includes lots of fun travel & expense, already been there 4 times. Surgery is now scheduled for Oct. 5.

My pleasure Dazza. I hope you can advocate for yourself better than I did. If you are not happy with your wrap be demanding. I'd definitely get another opinion if you're not happy after a few months. People will tell you its too early & you can't possibly have reflux but keep reinforcing your self knowledge, don't take no if there's a next time.

Each bite at this apple reduces our chance of success, we must be judicious from now on.

Do you know if its possible to be sick or anything with that procedure. I can't find side effects on it.

Good question, I have no idea of cost. I have insurance that requires a $6700 out of pocket. I will be paying that minus what I've already spent this year.

It is not lapro, its open surgery for me, 4 nights in hospital. It could be done lapro if I hadn't had a Nissen first (lapro then).

You could email them for a quote.

I have not had low blood sugar and the fuzzy feelings after food is 90% better but i have compensated with a constant burning nose and throat lol

dazza I would be careful and get second opinions, I understand about getting Valvoplasty, but look for second opinions maybe a lynx, so does getting a Valvoplasty mean taking down a nissen, do your research, also has your gastropersis got better? also going to a 270 wrap do you feel that the nerve is less impacted.
