hi there, I am 27 year old female living in southernOntario... I have had symptoms for years, most commonly consistently lose my voice for days at a time- specially after weekends in university, acid reflux issues the whole mess. basically after pushing for years found out I have a weak esophageal sphincter causing acid to move up to my vocal chords.. constantly in pain,.. had endoscope and found hiatal hernia as well.. took 2 years for all procedures to ensure I was a candidate for surgery..now have been waiting on wait list for 10 months... most recently the provincial wait list has updated that the wait time for the nissen fundoplication has changed from 11 months to 2.5 years... I am curious to know how long most people wait for this surgery? should I change surgeons- shes top of her field and mostly does cancer surgeries so im not a priority (yet) I am 27, we are waiting for surgery and recovery before going ahead with a wedding.. as well as in the next few years kids are in the plans.. surgeon and doctors suggested surgery before kids... but how long do you put your life on hold when waiting this long already?! any advice for Ontario surgeries?
