I am back at square one with some annoying symptoms. I have not been the greatest wth my diet as I have 4 busy kids and a busy life. Skipping meals is common for me, but I've never had trouble with it.
Now 2 weeks ago, I began noticing what I can only explain as hunger pangs. Not pain...but like the feeling right before your stomach growls...just kind of a gnawing. Not a huge deal in itself. But it doesn't matter if I eat or if I don't, that feeling doesn't go away. I had read that sometimes those are the feelings when you have an ulcer or excess stomach acid can mimic that. So I started taking nexium and 10 days later nothing was better and my anxiety was getting the better of me. I went and had a full work up including abdominal ultrasound, CT scan, and bloodwork. Everything came back clear, so they referred me to the GI for an upper GI scope. That was perfectly clear as well. I am shocked at that because it truly feels like reflux or heartburn but meds aren't helping and nothing showed in the upper GI scope.
My appetite had decreased because I was so anxious over the sensation not going away, but as I have gotten a grip on the anxiety part, I am back to eating fine...but the feeling ever really goes away. I ate 2 sandwiches, popcorn, and applesauce for lunch just trying to satisfy the hunger feeling...but it didn't change anything.
Is it possible for the scope to have missed something? It's driving me batty because while it's not PAIN, it's annoying and always there. I'' coming to you guys because I know many of you have experienced lots of things and may have more insight than my dr seems to on this. They recommended me for a gall bladder scan-HIDA I think. But I don't match those symptoms. And we have no insurance so spending $1200 on the scope and then another $550 on a scan for something that's a shot in the dark is not settling well with me
