Reglan -- Please Advise

Anyone who has been on the med Reglan, please let me know how it worked. Did you experience any of the scary side effects and, if so, which ones? My GERD is pretty bad right now and docs seem to prescribe Reglan in order to tighten the LES when PPI's are not sufficient. I want to save this as a last resort, however, since I am aware that it can cause uncontrolled muscle spasms and even long term tics. "Making faces at people for the rest of your life" is how my GI put it. As such, his department does not prescribe this drug, but several other M.D.'s have offered it to me.

I took reglan years ago...about 20 years ago. I felt anxious and depressed while on it, but took it so short term from those affects that I never had a chance to develop any other side effects. I would not use this drug again. Just my opinion on it, but once you have the side effects they probably will be with you for life..not a good drug.

Hi Laura,

I have been on Reglan (generic version) for about 2 years; 10 mg. 2x a day for about a year, and now just once a day. I was put on it in addition to my Prevacid because of the feeling of a lump in my throat that I started having. It helped me A LOT! I have had no bad side effects from it at all, just an improvement in my reflux. Hope this info is of any help to you.
