Im a 29 year old Norwegian which for the past 10 years have been struggling with pain in my upper throat. It all started on a vacation to Bulgaria in 2006. After a night out with friends I woke up with this burning sensation in my throat, and its been there ever since. I've been examined at the hospital a lot of times, but they haven't really figured it out. I've done the ph monitoring and endoscopy, but the results only shows that I have a small amount of reflux. It doesn't really conform with the pain I'm feeling. PPI's only has a small effect on me as well. I can feel reflux coming from time to time. Especially after eating fat food or "unhealthy" but the discomfort from reflux ain't the main problem for me.the worst thing about this is the constant burning feeling in upper throat. I also have some stomach problems.(IBS)
I don't really feel anyone understands how big of impact this problem has on my life.(including doctors) I've been trying to research for my self and I find a lot of similar issues, but nothing which fits mine exactly. I've been looking into hypersensitivity, fibromyalgia, all kinds of GERDS++.
For info I can add that I'm a man, not overweight and in good mental and physical shape.
It's really frustrating not knowing what is wrong with me. If I had a proper diagnosis it would be much easier to deal with, and help me treat it correctly.
Does anyone experience similar problems or have any idea on what this can be?
Im also considering treatment in the us. Tips?
Sincerely, Eivind
