If you are worried that the surgeon is not going to do the right procedure get a second opinion! You can have it!
I had a "regular, not floppy," partial Nissen (Toupet) fundoplication. That's what I needed because my swallow was "wimpy" on testing. I knew that before because I can't swallow pills larger than the smallest ones.
You need to get whatever the right surgery is for you, not what is popular or the latest fad. I asked my surgeon about some types of new stuff, but he told me what I needed, and I believed him, because I had paid attention to my tests and conditions, and I did lots of research. and asked lots of questions on the forum.
Recovery is related to what your condition is before surgery.
May is far off. If you are fearful, get a second opinion. You don't have to see another surgeon, but you could talk to your gastroenterologist. Forums have information, but we are not doctors, and we don't know anything about your condition.
