My only symptom is a mild soar/scratchy throat. However, it bothers me a lot because if it affects my speech. I can't talk for a long time unless I take lozenges and sometimes I teach classes for several days. I went to ENT about an year ago and this is the first time I heard about LPR. My gastroenterologist is convinced that it's not LPR because it's difficult for acid to get to my throat. He said that LPR is the craze of the day.
I'm 50-year old, thin, and exercise every day. I don't eat after 6, elevated my bed, and avoid the implicated foods. Usually, the throat gets worse during the day; it's OK when I wake up. Sometimes, I wake up at night but by the time I boot up, I can't realize what's the reason.
I can't imagine that that acid would get to my throat, bypassing two sphincters, traveling up the 10" esophagus, getting into my windpipe, without feeling anything. I also do yoga and I don't feel anything happening when doing inverted poses like headstands.
So, am I supposed to feel anything during an LPR episode? If, what does this feel like? I thought about getting pH monitoring but got scared by the 5K price tag.
