Hi,
For a bit of background, I am a 27 year old male who is relatively fit and has an average weight.
I have had this problem now for 18 months and it is literally an issue that exists for every minute of every day, from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep. It has never completely disappeared and even on good days is a lingering problem.
Basically, I constantly feel the need to burp, with pressure mostly in my chest and I guess my throat. If I let a burp out, the feeling comes straight back and another burp is ready to come. The weird thing is that the burps don't really feel like proper burps, with the gas rarely coming out. It seems to get stuck somewhere along my esophagus and ends up with me sounding like a frog. It's really hard to explain. The burps don't really come naturally either as I generally have to strain my neck to let the pressure rise up, but if I wanted to I could literally burp 1,000 times a day, non-stop.
I have tried to eliminate things from my diet without any luck, from fizzy drinks to dairy products to gluten, but nothing changes. The feeling is the same on a full stomach as it is on an empty stomach. In fact, I probably feel at my best when I am eating.
I don't really have any other symptoms, other than occasional chest/stomach pains on days when I am burping a lot. I don't suffer from any regular heartburn or indigestion and my stools are normal.
I am growing increasingly worried that it may be something serious (cancer) but I have been a bit of a hypochondriac all my life so that's nothing new. I have a doctors appointment next week, which I have been putting off for a long time because I figured it would involve a lot of tests and a lot of waiting time. Someone please help or a least off reassurance!
