Finally got my nissen taken down

Thankgod I finally got my nissen toupet fundoplication taken down. This has been a long process, the nissen was the biggest person regret of my life. Mind you I never had Barrets asophgus nor HH, just severe gerd that was being managed but felt the PPI were causing more damage. Little did I know the nissen created a thousand times more problems. Anyways if anyone is looking into taking theirs down I recommend DR lipham at USC. He was great, also their is a Facebook forum that has been set up for nissen fundoplication takedown and including me and several other people have taken theirs down, I totally recommend going to that forum if anyone is suffering from this horrible surgery....it should be outlawed

How are you doing now that you've had it taken down? How long ago?

I wouldn't have had the surgery in the first place, even after 20 years of a bad LES, but I finally had to because of a wreck that pushed stomach into chest. Now, 8 years later, I'm happy with my surgery. The first year wasn't fun, second year it got better.

What made my reflux tolerable before the wreck was finding my food triggers that were causing the heaving and burping. PPIs kept my stomach non-acid, so no esophageal damage. At that time I had to keep fairly upright, but didn't need surgery - last resort.
