I had an esophyx procedure done in Dec 2007. The procedure never worked and I still have the reflux. However, in addition to the reflux, I am unable to sit reclining or on soft chair. This happened after the Esophy. I don't have this symptom prior to Esophyx. Every time I sit reclining, I will get epigastric pain (pain below my sternum) and at the same time it will also trigger reflux or make reflux symptoms worse. I have to sit leaning forward or stand up to make the pain go away. Doctors have no clue why I have this symptom. They call this pain mechanical pain or position dependent pain. They have a theory that it might be the fasteners that was fired during esophyx may have pulled on the diagpram, but it is only a guess. CT scan did not show any fasteners at all.
So I have been avoiding sitting reclining or on soft chair all these years. However, last year I went on a roller coaster ride and since then my symptoms got worse. I am now unable to sit on most chair and lying down flat without having pain. A surgeon told me to just do a Nissen at this point.
Anyone has similar side effects from esophyx? please help
