Prior to nissen last year I suffered from Bile Reflux. PPI's made no impact on the symptoms of reflux. I could swallow standing up or laying down count to three and hear a gurgle and reflux all the way up. I was taking a PPI twice a day.
After 5 years, I finally had Nissen. My symptoms are non-existent during the day, but at night when I lay down, I can swallow and immediatly hear a foamy gurgle. Is this the anatomy of the wrap, or does it loosen when I ly down? I drool alot and night and am a mouth breather, but I believe this to be allergies, not refluxing like before. Its just the sound and a feeling of fluid that never makes it to my mouth / throat as before.
Dreading going back on PPi's due to long term risks. Do you think this is the anatomy of the wrap and air, or reflux? I didn't have Barrett's before nissen, could not taking meds the last year lead to that?
All I have heard is surgery was text book, and smooth.
