Nissen Fundoplication at the 10/12/15 and a Redo scheduled for 25/10/17.
Hi everybody.
After a year with reflux symptoms back again (Mostly on my left side) and a strong suspicion, that the wrap has slipped due to putting too much pressure on the lower chest during an exercise. My surgeon has finally come to the conclusion, that the time has come to open me up from the same areas as they entered, when they put the wrap on. After a year of waiting, im really happy and cannot wait for them to fix the wrap.
However, i do got a question: My surgeon told me that they will not take the wrap down completely but instead just look and see which stitches that came loose or popped and replace them with some new ones. He also said, they might add an extra stitch to the wrap. Is that normal? I remember seeing, that it was normal for the surgeons to take down the wrap completely and then start over, but that does not seem like the case here.
