Hi all.
I just want to tell you my story of my Nissen Fundiplocation experience and it's changed my life.
How it started. I was diagnosed with a lax esophageal sphincter about 5 years ago because I was constantly nausea with a burning sensation in my stomach. Tried medications, kinda helped but was still getting problems. They tested for reflux with acid monitoring and it was double than what it should be. So I had the operation. I thought it would fix me.
Before having the surgery I use to weight train and I was into fitness. The surgeon said I will be able to do all of this after the surgery.
3 years on from the surgery. Whenever I tense my abdomen, the surgery site gets sore for about a day. I've always got a sensation of pain in the area. If I speak loudly or shout. I get a sore chest for about a day and a burning sensation in my stomach. Due to this. I no longer do weight training or much intense exercise.
I've lost a lot of weight since my surgery. I was never overweight. I'm the slimiest I've ever been but I don't like it. I want to put back on at least a stone, but however much I try to eat I can't.
I get full quite easy and I get extremely bad gas pains.
Have I spoken to my surgeon about this? YES! and I've had multiple tests. My barium swallow says my wrap is in perfect condition, an endoscopy said it looks fine. There was a small bit of inflammation but it came back as normal.
I don't have any major issues with swallowing.
The surgeon wont consider much more or re operation because he can't find anything wrong with me.
I feel lost. I feel like an idiot for ever having the surgery. I try to live life as normal as possible but I'm fed up with the pain every day.
I'm in the UK and the NHS is overrun with patients and I feel like they don't take it 100% seriously or care too much.
Does anyone have advice or does anyone share the same experience?
