Hi friends! Hoping to get some opinions..
I had my Nissen fundoplication surgery in January 2017. It went beautifully, great recovery, and I haven’t had any reflux or heartburn symptoms since the second I woke from anesthesia.
about a week ago I had some severe bloating with zero ability to pass gas that lasted about three days. At one point the pain was so severe I thought I almost passed out and considered going to the ER worried about appendicitis. The pain subsided some the next day, but I’m now left with a very tender and sore abdomen that hurts when I move, including just walking. My upper abdomen just below my diaphragm also is aching, and it feels very similar to when I was healing after surgery. I’m also having bouts of light reflux now, but thankfully no heartburn.
How long would you all feel comfortable with this before you went to see a doctor? I’m hoping it’s just my tummy being weird from a recent diet change, but if my surgery site has had some kind of trauma or failure I obviously want to go get it checked out ASAP. My surgeon is in a different state, so I’m also unsure of if I should go to my GP where I live or try to reach out to a new gastro.
Any thoughts or similar experiences?
