Omeprazole and anxiety?

Hello,
I started taking omeprazole/Prilosec about a week ago, and have noticed my anxiety level has been steadily creeping up. I have a history of severe anxiety and panic attacks that have been well controlled over the past several years, and I am extremely wary of this coming back.

I don't see anxiety listed as one of the main side effects for omeprazole, but I know some drugs just affect people in different ways. Has anyone else noticed a link there?

I had previously been diagnosed a different PPI that was too expensive, so I am hoping to be able to stick it out with generic omeprazole if possible- but if it really is causing this anxiety, it isn't worth it! I know this might well be psychosomatic, especially since I've been taking the omeprazole for such a short time, but wanted to see if others have the same experience.

With your history of anxiety/panic attacks, it's more likely that you are becoming more anxious about your condition, than your pills causing the increased anxiety. You can always call your doctor and express your concerns, but you may end up with another prescription that is also too expensive. Try and relax and concentrate on the medication relieving your symptoms.
