For the past year and a half I have had reflux issues. Hoarse throat, chest pains, burning, breathing problems, etc. I had an endoscopy done last May which showed I have a small hiatal hernia and gastritis and esophagitis. I was put on Omeprazole and it helped tame the reflux but there is still a lot of discomfort and pain even with the Omeprazole. I am desperate to get off medication and be able to eat/drink and sleep flat like I once could so I asked my GI doctor and they sent me for the Manometry test and my results came back saying "Your recent manometry did not show any abnormalities. Your recent impedance did not show any correlation between your symptoms and reflux events, though there was some retention of fluid in your esophagus after swallowing." Now in most cases that would be seen as good news but I fear no surgeon will operate on me after seeing these results. I am very confused, I expected a total different set of results and now I am here just wondering what in the world is going on. Is it possible the hernia is still causing all the trouble I feel that it is and it just didn't show up on this test? Does anyone have any suggestions/advice?
