Hey all!
I am wondering if anyone has had spikes in heartburn after their surgery. I had pain in my back for a couple of months after my surgery (October 2017) and then it began to subside. I have had heartburn off and on since my surgery.
Recently, in the last month or so I have had an uptick in heartburn feeling. No regurgitation or known acid reflux. It is almost every day. My anxiety for sure brings it on, but I am wondering if something is wrong.
I admit the last few months I have been eating all the things I used to avoid and in doing so.... I actually gained about
20lbs (
). I saw my surgeon this last week and we went over the hycosamine that does seem to help with what they are calling esophageal spasms and then we talked about
foods I should probably avoid (the typical do not eat gerd list). OH! And I should mention that during my PH test whenever I clicked that I was having heartburn, they were showing virtually no acid coming up and my endoscopy came back normal.
So as I struggle back at the loosing weight thing, I wondered if anyone else had this issue. I am about
10 months post surgery and it has changed my life dramatically. I am terrified of going back to the days where I hugged my toilet several times a week and the powerful PPIs that started to not work anymore. The anxiety is crippling and I have come close to outright panic attacks at thinking my surgery is unsuccessful and I will go back to being miserable.
Also, has anyone else gained weight months after surgery? Did it negatively affect you and give you increased heartburn?
Thanks!
