I am doing 99% better in the last weeks. I was in Costa Rica and decided to do an endoscopy there, since the medicine is so much better than the US. A great GI private doc. The endoscopy was $85, painless. They gave me a shot and i was semi concious. He diagnosed GERD but said that otherwise my stomach is in great shape as well as esophagus.
He recommended Motilium which is apparently the new thing and he says that it is much better than aciphex.
He said that his colleagues in the US send people to Mexico or Canada to get it since it is so effective.
The FDA hasn't approved it yet so it is not available in the US for a few years.
I took it for a few weeks, (stopped aciphex) and now I am off Motilium too. No symptoms, no problems, I still watch what i eat, but i had jalapenos the other day and nothing happened.
I definitely see the difference with this drug, no side effects and does its job.
If you can get it might be worth trying it.

True that, Solfed.  Motilium (also called Domperidone (sp.?) is likewise used for (as the name suggests) gastroparesis, meaning delayed digestion.  It works like Reglan, w/o many of the ugly side effects.  One thing -- it can cause lactation in women.  I didn't know it was used as as PPI substitute though.  Glad it worked for you.

I have been on motilium for about 7 months, helps a ton....were you taking one 10mg pill before meals? Sometimes i want to take 30mg before meals!! I am surprised you could get off of it...there is no way I could. I still have my bad weeks while on it.

Hi Solfed, I also have GERD and is also prescribed Motilium, and on Nexium at the same time. I would like to know whether your GERD is due to a loose lower esophageal sphincter or not? Same as you, I am also normal according to the endoscopy but besides the loose LES part.

I've just been prescribed Motilium by my GP as I have been having a heart burn issue which is now a lot better but I have been left with a really troublesome cough which is keeping me awake most nights - anyone else had this problem and used Motilium? and did it work? if not, what has.

just remember i think it can cause heart issues in some people. i was on it at one point, also outside of the US, but within the US they sometimes do tests on your heart before prescribing it (form what I remember)...if you don't have heart problems I don't know if it is an issue...

I was on it in conjunction with Nexium at the time. Nexium was working fairly well so Motilium did nothing additional for me. I was prescribed both at once and probably only needed Nexium....I never took Motilium alone.
