Hi all! My Nissen surgery will be in about
24 hours and surprisingly I'm pretty calm. I'm staying positive that while this will necessitate a lifelong change in eating habits, the change as well as the surgery will provide the pain relief I've been wanting. I know it will be a little rough for a while, but I think I'm prepared for the initial diets (clear liquids, full liquid, soft foods, etc). I live alone so I don't have anyone who is right here at my beck and call. But I have lots of folks who have offered to help me when I need it including a dear friend who's taking me to the surgery center, bringing me home and staying with me as many nights as I need.
Thank you all for the advice you posted in my initial thread plus all the other posts I've combed through on this forum. I'll check in when I can and let you know how things are going. I have to do the first pre-op shower with antibacterial soap in a little while and will have to repeat it in the morning before I go to the surgery center. I just hope I can sleep, though if I can't, I'll catch up tomorrow for sure.
