Hi all, I have a rare problem called nut cracker esophagus and gerd with hernia so I’m post op heller myotomy with Dor fundaplycation, hernia repair and gull bladder removed, it’s been two months and I tried to eat normal today ( pizza) oh not a good idea, I got food stuck and a neighbor had to hit my back until it moved down . I don’t think I’ll ever eat normal again . My chest pressure I have quite often causes panic . Can anyone help me understand if this is normal please ???

Hi Virginia:

If you find a food that's particularly difficult, back off of it and try it at a later date.You still need to chew your food until almost a liquid consistency. And, most importantly, there will be small setbacks along the road to your recovery and it does take time. Anxiety can cause/make your symptoms seem worse, so it's a good idea to try and get that under control. It took me almost 6 months until I started to feel better, and about a year to feel like the "new" me.

Thank you for your reply and I will try to remind myself to slow down and chew better, I’m guilty on not chewing well . The anxiety I am also trying to control . The surgeon said I’ll be fine in a few weeks so not feeling fine made me think something is wrong but to know you went through it and know helps tremendously, thank you so much .
