Hi Sharon,

I know this is in the wrong forum but I have no way to contact you as there is no private messaging here on HW. I am sorry for putting this here.

I saw you post in the headache section but that forum has very little activity so I thought I would try to reach you here . I have cervicogenic headaches and I read where you had steroid injections which helped. Could you possibly tell me what the injection is called? In the past I have had injections up and down my cervical spine. I had a two level cervical fusion three years ago and now my neurosurgeon wants to fuse another level. Do you get your injections right at the base of your head? I am guessing this would be C1??? I had C5-C7 fused and now my dr wants to fuse C4 also.

I get the worst headaches now which start at the base of where my head meets the top of my neck. The headaches get so bad I get dizzy and nauseous and have to take Zofran to help me. I am also taking Fioricet almost daily now.

Again I am sorry for putting this here but I would greatly appreciate any help please. Feel free to relocate this if you need to the headache forum. I know you monitor this forum daily.

I also take Dexilant daily for reflux so I know how this feels. I post on a few different forums here on HW also.

No problem! I'm not sure that there is any proper name for the injections other than they are just basic steroid injections, and I think that they are at the bottom of my neck. I'm going back on Monday for a visit with my ortho doctor, so I'll pay more attention and get back to you with a little more specifics. It sounds like you have a lot more issues going on than just my basic arthritis due to old age.

My primary care physician has also started me on a low dosage of Topomax which is generally an anti-seizure drug that has proven benefits for migraines. That's also something you can look into.

I'm not sure how I would survive without Zofran, as I have it with me at all times. The end of 2019 was a bad one for me - I started out with strep throat in November, that turned into an upper respiratory infection, then a bout of vertigo, and then (on my birthday, no less), a trip to the ER for kidney stones).

You are right in that I have degenerative disc disease. I can take the pain of it most days but the headaches just knock me down. They make me so sick to my stomach!!! Yuck.

I have had both facet joint injections and central canal injections but neither give lasting relief. If you have gotten relief with an injection right at where you head meets your neck that would prove interesting. I have not had that before.

Last summer I had a bout with kidney stones also. I went to the ER and CT scans showed a stone. I passed two stones in three days then was ok for another three day. Then I went right back to the ER thinking what is going on???? The dr reviewed my original CT scan and said I had four of five stones yet to pass. Needless to say that month was terrible. Worse pain of my life. Passing that many stones in one month is inhumane. lol.

I just had my injections yesterday, and mine were definitely at the bottom of my neck hear my shoulder.
