Hello everyone,
I've been active on the HW Prostate Cancer forum for several years, and feel the need to check in here. I've had GERD for years (I'm 62), and in my prostate cancer workup 6 years ago, the CT scan confirmed a Hiatal Hernia.
I've been on Dexilant for several years, and it mostly works to control the reflux. I've also figured out the dietary things I need to do, (or not do, really) in the evenings to minimize night time reflux.
All that being said, What has been happening lately does have me concerned, and thinking I need to visit with a Gastroenterologist for a more detailed look. Two things have changed: One is that when I do have reflux event, I get a real shot of pain, behind my breastbone, that lasts for up to a few hours or even longer. The second is that when I have one, just about anything will trigger another attack in short order...even drinking a glass of water to wash the acid taste out can trigger one if I lie down too soon.
What do you guys think?
