shortness of breath

YES I often get short of breath, never know if it is because of fibro or reflux, I HAVE A LOT OF PAIN IN MY UPPER BACK , I ALSO HAVE A HISTORY OF ULCERS reflux and hiatus hernia, all I know is that at times I feel muscle spasm in my back , heaarburn and throat restriction, at such times I cannot take in a deep breath and have a tendency to hyperventilate, the only thing that helps is ativan.

I DO NOT HAVE ASTMA, HAD AN ALLERGIST APPOINTMENT THREE WEEKS AGO AND MY BREATHING TEST WAS EXCELLENT, however reflux, especially LPR can cause wheezing and shortness of breath and even pneumonia as acid fumes affect the lungs, I seem to remember reading about hiatus hernia also putting pressure on the diaphram and causing shortness of breath, so can air swallowing from anxiety, or loose dentures, this is what makes everything so confusing is it not ?

I developed the asthma after 3 months straight of 24/7 heartburn from my gallbladder. I also had reflux since age 14 and am now 43. It's gotten worse over the years and harder to treat. I am going to stay on my new doctors butt until we get this under control because I do not want to end up with Barretts. I also don't want my asthma to get any worse than it is already. I had the test for it and definitely have asthma. I would still make sure you get tested for the asthma to rule that out. It is nothing to mess with. Barb

Yeah my doc wants to wait to do that one until they have the new equipment where they just implant a little thing down in the esophagus and then it stays there for 3 days before passing through the system. You where a vest thing that records the reflux activity that is transmitted from the little pill size transmitter. The old way is a tube up the nose and  down the throat for 24 hours. I had that done 2x before my nissan fundoplication surgery. Not fun. Barb
