Anyone else here just do a jump off their PPI??? Could really use some advice, guidance and companionship thru this.

Welcome to the healing well forum

Have you stopped your PPI with your doctor's recommendation? I only took mine for a short time (lanzoprozole) as I was suffering with gastritis so I came off it after about 4 weeks.
What is worrying you about stoping the PPI?

My Dr. knew I wanted off it asap, as I have been taking these pills for several years. She had told me just to stop taking it. I decided to jump off and still don't know what to expect for sure. Yesterday was hell, I can tell you that. All I know is I have been taking probiotics...just one a day and tonight I took 2 and it did something wild tonight. I feel super awake and I was just exhausted before taking them. My stomach feels pain-free and all the crazy neurological symptoms I believe the pills were giving me are changing. My insane depression seems to have lifted and I can't even get myself to cry. It's really bizarre to me. Anyway...I am trying to lie down...hopefully, I won't wake with burning skin and intolerable anxiety...like I have experienced on this drug.

I was on Nexium for 4 months for erosive esophagitis and just wasted my time as it didn't help me hardly at all. I stopped it and went on Pepcid AC for a few days and felt just the same on that as I did on the Nexium, actually better.

Lucky for me our insurance stopped covering the Nexium on 9/1, so I went on Prevacid SoluTab and have been on that about a week and it is different as night and day the relief I'm getting.

I didn't have any side effects getting off of Nexium suddenly. The med just never helped my GERD any.

I guess I'll stay on the Prevacid for several months and then don't know what to do.

I also have gastroparesis and I wonder if I should just stay on the Prevacid for years like you did or stop and possibly have left heart failure and pneumonia again?

Sorry to ramble on. My husband has GERD and has been on Protonix for about 3 to 4 years and not even tried to stop the med. 

I thought these meds were for temporary use, not for use for years.

You might have to wean yourself a little bit at a time because you've been on these pills for a while. I jsut quit taking prilosec after being on it for more than 1 year. Before Prilosec I was also on Nexium, before that Prevacid and Aciphex.
I am doing much better, it's been more than 1 week since I stopped the Prilosec. I've been taking DGL licorice and tea w. slippery elm, marshmallow root, orange peel extract, etc.
Hang in there...you could try some of these herbs and see if they will help. I chew the licorice when needed or sometimes 20 minutes before a meal.

I've officially been off Nexium cold turkey for a week now and still going. I am more acidy, no doubt...but it does feel like my system is trying to adjust. I don't want to go back on these pills ever again if I can help it.
