Halls, from what I've read about reflux it can come up to the area just behind your breastbone and not come up into your throat. If I do indeed have reflux I never have anything come up into my throat, very few times that is. I believe mine stops behind the breastbone. Only once or twice since I've been on meds for it have I ever had anything come up into my throat. I wouldn't know for sure about still having gotten reflux in the esophagus overnight. I would imagine you could tell by the way you felt the next morning. They say it is best for a person with reflux to sleep with the head of their bed elevated 4 or 5 inches. We were doing that with ours when I had that really bad spell back in December. I was sleeping propped up even on a wedge pillow which wasn't easy to sleep on. The elevating the bed did best. It keeps the acid down in your stomach. A couple of hard back books 4 or 5 inches thick under the legs of the head of your bed should do the trick. Try it a while and see if that helps. If you want to order one of those blue and white wedge pillows along with a pillowcase you can order it from a site called Dr. Leonards. Good luck. Oh, and drinking plenty of water is very good for keeping the acid down if present. It neutralizes it.
