NO ONE'S tried THIS drug???

I just started taking zegerid a couple of weeks ago.  I had been taking aciphex for the last 5 years.  From what I can tell so far, it doesn't seem all that different from the aciphex?  The only thing I've noticed is that you do have to take it at least 30 minutes prior to eating or it doesn't work.  Kind of a pain because I keep on forgetting my afternoon dose and then have acid reflux all night.  For all I know, though, perhaps you are supposed to take all of the PPIs prior to eating.  My previous GI never gave me any directions for how to take them.

In answer to your question, though, zegerid works.  I don't know if it works any better than the other PPIs, though.

There are no specific instructions on my Protonix on when to take it. I just take one pill a day. Usually in the morning. But I take it after eating. But I eat nothing acidic at all. I have to avoid all the foods I like that are spicy. The most spice I had today was probably in the ranch salad dressing I had on my salad at lunch. I was fine all day after eating that and had nothing but a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for supper with some cottage cheese and milk and then I've been belching on and off more than usual tonight. And I had a lactaid chewable with my first bite. I'm all stuffy like my sinuses are messed up also and my ears and teeth are hurting and my throat is a little sore and I feel drainage. But from what I've read, acid reflux can cause some of those sinus type symptoms where the ears hurting and the sore throat are concerned. Has anyone else experienced any of this with their acid reflux? My upper middle part of my stomach is very tight, and when I belch, the tightness and pressure lessens, so to me mine sounds like gas. But who knows. I don't like this stuff affecting me before bedtime as I was pretty normal all day today until around an hour ago.

I've been told by doctors that it doesn't matter what you eat.  Your stomach produces acid whether you eat a bland food, or a highly acidic food.  Although certain foods do aggravate my stomach more (tomato based sauces),  I know that I will experience acid reflux the same if I eat a saltine cracker or a large burrito.  So far, this appears to be true for me.  I'm going to clarify with my GI about taking the PPIs prior to eating.  I keep missing my evening/afternoon dose of zegerid and I've been taking it after I eat.  It would make sense, though, that taking it after you eat is a bit too late because your stomach starts producing acid immediately upon eating, doesn't it?

My ears plug up too.  I feel like im under water sometimes.  Its unbeleivable the amount of symptoms you can get with this thing!  Some are quite scarey, some are painful,and some are just annoying.  Im sick of it!!!!

The problem is acidic foods but also other foods....you have to get on an ALKALINE way of eating. Basically vegetarian but with limited foods since some vegetarian foods are not alkaline, they are very acidic. See my postings back to last summer to find out about alkaline foods.
Watermelon is the highest alkaline food...eat it!!!
Lemon juice is very alkaline BUT only when it reaches the stomach....as is Apple Cider Vinegar.
When you have esophogeal problems you cannot eat these foods, it will burn the esophagus on the way down. You want to COAT your esophagus so that it can be protected and healed. DGL licorice (dissolved slowly in your mouth) is one of the ways to heal your esophagus.
The only reason you have GERD is because acid is seeping up from the stomach into your esophagus.
Think about it....it makes alot of sense...sleep on your left side at the very least....acid cannot seep up into esophagus.
