Hi all, lovely title isnt it? Well, its a sad fact in my household. Hello, Im new and despartely looking for some help for my 13 year old son.
For the past 4 years my son has occasional bouts with burping sulfer smells before bedtime, then waking with a bout of incredibly violent vomiting. There is no set rules as to when these bouts occur, they seem to be random, maybe 2, 3 times a year, sometimes with multiple occurances, one day apart or 2 days apart, sometimes single instances. There have been a few cases that do not involve vomiting, but they were during the day and I was not told about it. We seem to be having increased heartburn too.
This last time was odd. It occured in the summer, not usual. Had 3 bouts of it, 2 days apart. The first was sulfer smell burps, bedtime, then 7 hours later, explosion of undigested food. Next, food at 11am, burps then explosion at 500pm..followed by heaves for an hour. This last one was so violent he actually broke blood vessels in his face! Last one, normal at 1100pm, sulfer smells at 400am (gave him an antiacid)and explosion at 730am. Repeated dry heaves until 930am. (we were camping on this last one, not good scene). He was weak and dizzy. He was asking for food and feeling normal by 100pm.
This has got me stumped. Im researching MSG sensitivity because he had all the MSG products camping and summer brings with it (hot dogs, top ramin ect) but also GERD because I saw reference to someone with sulfer burps elsewhere on a gerd site. Ive started him on a MSG free diet(as best as I can with the limited knowledge I have now)
Its the vomiting that has me worried. Has anyone had this problem?
ps, his doctor thought it was "nerves" He is in the most relaxed state of mind possible right now, summer vacation and lots of friends over!
