Strange feeling in chest = GERD??

Hi there, I have UC, but think I might also have Reflux. I had bad reflux when I was pregnant 25 years ago, but that went away after I had the baby. Over the last 5 years I've had bouts of burning stomach with nausea, but it only lasts a few days and then I'm ok for months.

In early 2006 I had strange chest pains with burning that seemed to come from my stomach right up into my throat. Also had a feeling of having a lump in my throat, as well as tightness. The Dr. gave me some Nexium, which I didn't take, and the feeling went away on it's own. Every few months I get the burning/nausea, but again, it only lasts a few days then goes away.

For about a month now, I've had a constant pain in my chest along with a burning feeling. The burn goes right up into my throat and almost feels scratchy like I've swallowed a hair. I want to clear my thoat, to relieve the feeling, but there is no mucous to clear. I also almost feel like you do when you have bronchitis, that burn in your upper lung area. This is the part that is scaring me because I'm an ex-smoker. I haven't smoked in 11 years. I don't have any cough or phlegm/mucous, so I'm thinking it's probably reflux. Is that one of the sensations on reflux, feeling like it could be your lungs? I'm going to see the Dr. about this, but would like to know what your opinions are regarding the strange, worrying chest sensations are. Thanks!

I have exactly the same symptom as you. I was having upper esophagus ulcer three month ago and did two times of Endoscopy and the doctor said the ulcer is healed. But I still feel something in my throat. Sometimes I feel chest pain as well. Sometimes I feel a hair in my throat and sometimes I feel a lump in my throat. I have been seeing GI and ENT doctors and they could not find anything in my throat. Before the esophagus I didn't have reflux and the doctor said the ulcer was not caused by ulcer. But now I feel I have reflux. I don't know if this throat problem is caused by reflux. One GI doctor told me that if the lower part of esophagus has problem the feeling would be in the throat. I don't know if the reflux demanged the lower esophagus. Let me know what your doctor find out for you.
