Hi..new here, and wondering if you guys could help me. I'm having a terrible sore throat..and burning at the top of ehophagus..sort of where your neck meets the chest. Was to Dr. a couple of weeks ago..he gave me aciphex..which I had no result with. I was having interminent discomfort in rest of esophagus at that time..he said to take the aciphex as needed. When that didn't help, he gave me the Nexsium 40 mg. to take once a day. While I have no discomfort anywhere else..the burning in my throat is awful..and the gastro dr. he sent me to on Friday increased the Nexsium to twice a day. Now I have diahreah..and still have the burning throat. Is there anything I can take to relieve the burning throat? Gastro guy said that I should be scoped, but is not in a hurry to do so since the treatment for this is the same..the scoping is to determine what if any damage has been caused by reflux. Meaning the treatment is the same..the Nexsium. He wants me to see Cardiologist to rule out anything cardia..as my mom had first heart attack at age 56..and I will be 50 next month. Honestly, she also smokes a pack a day..which I dont and never have. I'm looking to get rid of this burning throat..it's awful.
I've already had an ekg, and an echo cardiogram, and a carotid artery test...and all that was fine. I feel as if I'm wasting my time going to a cardiologist..although I will go anyway. Frankly, I know if I didn't mention my family history with my mom..they wouldn't be sending me there. I think it's more about covering their butts. In the meantime,....this terrible buring throat? Anyone have success in getting rid of this?
