Hello,

I'm scheduled for a HIDA Scan on October 9. Has anyone made it through this test without a lot of discomfort and nausea?

I am glad I caught yours. I had this test done a couple weeks ago. no nausea, some pain when they injected the dye in the iv, but absolutley not enough to worry about. you will be fine...you have to lie still for awhile and I was told I could bring music and headphones to listen to...do that, I didnt and wished I had...God bless you and be with you, annie

Hi Arnie,

Many thanks for your post about the HIDA scan. Your information was very helpful. I'll bring my Ipod and listen to music...great suggestion.

At this point, I'm anxious to get the test completed to determine if my Gall Bladder is causing my heartburn and pressure under my right side rib cage.

I had my gallbladder out a week ago. No more pain. All is well, a little bowel issue but it will pass. lol

I am just gald to have better days now. The surgery is nothing, I mean it is so safe these days. I stayed over one night. I was glad I did. Then I went home and have been good. Back to wiork after 10 days. Gee, I loved that time off, lol

Wish I could just stay home and watch lifetime movies, I got so addicted.....Take care, let me know how it goes, Anne...God bless you..I will pray for you

Oakley, I too had my gallbladder removed three weeks ago this coming Tuesday.  I was wondering if you are having any acid reflux after the surgery?  Like I said I had mine out on a Tuesday but by Friday I was flooded with acid (my gallbladder was out because it was dysfunctional).  My gerd was somewhat under control but have had to switch to Prevacid 30mg. twice a day.  I am starting to come around but still don't have a great appetite.  In fact, on Friday I went to a Mexican restaurant and ordered the baked red chicken enchiladas (I thought they would be okay since they were baked) and ate about 1 1/4 enchilada, most of the rice, and probably about 4 corn tostadas with beans and boy did I pay for eating that.  Since my surgery I have been vigilant about what I would eat and had not had problems with diarreah because I was taking whole phsyllium husk but I pretty much got sick immediately after eating the Mex dinner.  I had lots of diarreah on Friday and for most of the day on Saturday.  Today is Sunday and still don't feel that great and don't have much of an appetite.  That is great you didn't have any problems.  I just wonder if acid reflux gets worse after the gallbladder is removed? Thanks for any replies.....

Hello,

Just wanted to let anyone who is having a HIDA scan done that mine was completed this morning. I had absolutely no discomfort or nausea at all.

Bring a book on tape or music to listen to though. It really helped pass the time. My test took 1 1/2 hours to complete. I'm still awaiting the final results but so far, it looks like my Gall Bladder is fully functioning.

I'm still having discomfort under my right rib cage and heartburn, belching after eating. I'm back to the drawing board on a diagnosis but am thankful the HIDA scan wasn't difficult.

Hello, sorry it took me so long to answer, but here goes, I do have occasional acid reflux....but , I have had that before the surgery too. I have only had two days where it has bothered me since the surgery though. I am on nexium though daily so it is vey well controlled. I feel the most discomfort when I overeat. So, I am trying hard to eat more small meals instead of the normal three times a day thing. It really seems to help. Try this and let me know. My gallbladder reamoval has helped in every other way though...very glad to have had it done. God bless, Anne
