Hello all,
I'm new here and in search of answers/opinions.
about
a year ago, I had surgery to repair a bucket-handle tear in my left lateral meniscus. The surgery was a pretty great success, all my pains seemed to go away. A few months ago, I started experiencing really bad pain in my knee again, kind of similar in
feeling but not in
location; it was up and to the left. I went to the doctor today and he says he wants to do a lateral release to realign my patella, which is the cause of the pain. I'd never heard of such a procedure and after a quick search of the internet, come up with so so many different explanations, opinions, etc.
As far as I'm aware, the meniscus repair and the misalignment of the patella are not connected as far as this particular pain is concerned. When I had my meniscus repaired, I was on crutches about
6-8 weeks and could bear weight after about
2. I went to rehab (very good, hard-working rehab) for about
3 months total after surgery. I recovered well.
My question is to anyone with a similar background; that is, meniscus problems, similar recovery time, etc. How long was your recovery after having a lateral release done? How is it different from a meniscus repair as far as post-op is concerned?
I thank you in advance for any input anyone has to share. I'm in school and so that I don't have to drop my classes, I have chosen to wait until December to go through with the surgery if I have it at all.
